How Long Does Training Take to Earn a Class A CDL?

Many people looking to start their career as a truck driver want to know how long training takes before they can enter the field. Requirements For Class A CDL Training

There are a few requirements for students wanting to earn their Class A CDL. Students must be at least 18 years old to enroll in the training program. They must be able to pass a drug test and a Department of Transportation physical before entering the program. They will also need a Class A driver’s license or Class A instruction permit.

What to Expect From Training

The Class A CDL training program is designed for those who have no experience or training as a tractor-trailer truck driver. The program length is three to six weeks long, which is 192 hours of training. The program includes 60 hours of classroom training, 18 hours of parked vehicle instruction, 29 hours of driving range basic vehicle handling, and 85 hours of public roadway driving with an instructor. Day and night classes are available to students.
