Sometimes it happens. You finish trucking school and start working with a company that either isn’t a good fit for you, or it’s a position that you don’t care for.
The good news is that there are things you can do to help improve your situation. If you get paired with a company that is not the right fit for you, here are a couple of ways US Truck Driving School can help.
Our Job Placement staff works hard to ensure that our drivers are paired with the best fitting jobs for them, but sometimes a driver starts a job that just doesn’t click for them.
With our job placement assistance program, you can always come back and talk with US Truck staff about assistance in another job position. We are here to help you succeed throughout your career and will be happy to help you find the right fit for you.
The hard part comes in when you don’t like a position within your first year of driving. There are a lot of changes in your rookie year, and it can be a lot to take in.
If you can, stick with your company and driving position for at least a year so you can gain some real-life experience. After a year, many other companies will consider you as an experienced driver, and you will likely be able to switch companies and move up to a higher position easier.
That first year’s experience will be key to getting to move on in the trucking industry, so it’s best if you can do that with the company that originally hired you. Then you can consider looking elsewhere for employment.
We provide our students and graduate with a variety of resources to help you find the right job. Take advantage of our scheduled job fairs & recruiter visits.
Job fairs help connect you with potential employers. You can get the “vibe” they give off right from the start, and learn what they expect from their drivers. This can help you determine if you are going to be a good fit for that company.
In the end, remember, it may take time to find the quality match with an employer you are looking for. However, never feel like you are “stuck” in a job you don’t like. The job placement staff at United States Truck Driving School is here to help you find a job you love!
