It’s no secret that the trucking industry is in need of new truck drivers to fill vacant employment positions. This is a unique profession and it takes a special person to be successful in this industry.
So, how do new drivers gain the required skills and knowledge needed to have a successful, long-term career? For many people, building a solid foundation for a new career means enrolling in a Class A training program like the one offered at United States Truck Driving School.
If you are one of those people, you might be wondering what you can expect when you get your Class A CDL from USTDS.
The Class A training program is designed for those with little to no experience in the trucking industry. The program runs between 3-6 weeks and includes both classroom instruction as well as hands-on learning in the truck.
In the classroom, you’ll learn about the DOT rules and regulations of the trucking industry, and will study the Colorado CDL driving manual. Get a feel of what it’s like in the classroom by taking our Free CDL Permit class on Saturday mornings!
Your hands-on learning takes places in a truck – not on a simulator! Students will have parked vehicle instruction, and will practice shifting, braking, turning, backing, parking, and hooking/unhooking the tractor and trailer in our training yard.
You’ll learn how to safely handle a commercial vehicle by getting practical experience in real-world traffic – always with a qualified driving instructor by your side.
Getting Started Behind the Wheel
During your training, you’ll have opportunities to meet with trucking companies about driver opportunities. After graduation, use our job placement service to help you connect with different employers. At United States Truck Driving School, this is a lifetime benefit for you!
